Dental Technology
At Santé dentaire Richard Bélanger, we use technology to support us in providing our patients with efficient dental care, including dental x-rays, dental lasers and intraoral scanners.
The dental technology we use at Santé dentaire Richard Bélanger informs our treatment plans and make your dental appointments more efficient. Since we are able to display digital x-rays and other scans on monitors in our treatment rooms, we are able to display any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our goal is to provide patients with efficient dental care, and make sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital x-rays use digital sensors as opposed to traditional x-ray photographic film. They create highly detailed computer images of your teeth and gums, as well as your other oral structures. They also allow your dentist to examine parts of your mouth that aren't visible the the naked eye.
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning, including analyzing your airway for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.
In dentistry, lasers can be used in a variety of soft and hard tissue procedures. They allow our dentists to perform procedures with less pain and fewer interventions. At Santé dentaire Richard Bélanger, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue, reshape the gums, harden dental restorations, or whiten teeth.
Oral cancer screening devices allow our dentists to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualisation technology, it can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
