At Santé dentaire Richard Bélanger, our dentists use dental bonding as a non-invasive cosmetic dental procedure in order to restore discoloured, damaged or decayed teeth.
Dental bonding is a non-invasive procedure in which your dentist bonds tooth-coloured resin to your teeth in order to match the surrounding natural teeth.
Dental bonding is used most often in the repair of chipped or discoloured teeth. It is often also used to close the gap between teeth, in order to make teeth appear longer, or to change their colour and shape in order to make them more symmetrical.
Dental bonding typically requires only one visit to your dentist's office and can usually be completed in 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
In order to prepare your teeth for bonding, your dentist will be able to apply an etching solution to the surface of your tooth, and then a composite resin which matches the colour of your tooth.
The composite resin is molded into its proper shape and then hardened in place using a high-intensity light.
If you are experiencing a minor cosmetic dental issue, including cracked, gapped or discoloured teeth, dental bonding may be able to help to address it.
After your dentist has finished the procedure, your teeth will look natural, especially if the tooth being filled is visible when you smile.
The composite also strengthens your teeth, so you can enjoy meals without having to worry about applying too much pressure on your tooth and breaking or cracking it again.
